Catching Up With Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio has been on the road this summer, rocking across the country on this year’s Warped Tour. Lead Singer, Matt Skiba, took a break from the stage in Houston to give fans some insider Alkaline Trio news.
In late 2009, Alkaline Trio formed their own label, Heart & Skull, as a joint venture with Epitaph Records. In February of 2010, the boys released their 7th studio album, This Addiction, under the new label. The title track was the first to be released from the record.
Matt Skiba comments, “The song takes heroin addiction as a metaphor for love. The whole record is really personal, all three of us have been through quite a bit since our last album [2008's Agony & Irony] and it is all expressed through this, all the songs are about the relationships we’ve been in and so the record has a constant theme.”
The newest single, “The American Scream,” is featured on two compilation albums, Warped Tour 2010 and Epitaph’s New Noise Volume 1. The video is about to be filmed, and for the first time, the band will not be in it. When asked if he could give anything away, Matt simply remarked that it will be better to be watch than to describe it and there will be lots of blood.
Skiba also confirmed that the boys have been working on solo material that will eventually be released via Heart & Skull. This first is a collection of demos that Matt has complied. It will not be a full length studio album, but a mere precursor to what will come.
You can catch Alkaline Trio live through mid August. Keep checking back for the latest Alkaline Trio news.
